They called him Le Petit Docker Dodu — “the little chubby dockworker.” The nickname was ironic. There was nothing little about him. Born and raised in the sun-soaked port of Antibes, he spent his early years loading fishing boats, sharing long lunches with local sailors, and learning that the best conversations always happened around a table with good wine. Life moved slowly on the French Riviera, and he liked it that way. But the sea has a way of pulling people toward unexpected horizons. One stormy voyage brought him north to Gothenburg. What was supposed to be a short stop became a new home. He fell in love with the city’s harbor, its hardworking spirit, and the people who appreciated simple pleasures as much as he did. Yet something was missing: the warmth of a French wine bar.
A place where strangers became friends, where a bottle stayed open a little longer, and where every evening felt like a celebration. So he built one. Today, Le Petit Docker Dodu is his tribute to both worlds — French charm from Antibes and the soul of Gothenburg’s waterfront. Every glass poured carries a piece of his journey, from the Mediterranean sunshine to the Nordic docks. Pull up a chair, order a glass, and stay awhile. Just as the old docker likes it.
